The History Of Wrist Watches

Dress watches or wrist watches are very popular in this modern day for keeping and telling the time. These watches can be worn by both men and women of all ages and allow for easy reading. In the early 1500's the first sign of a portable time piece was made, although back then it was not really made for wearing on the wrist.

As time when on the evolution of this portable time piece transformed into the pocket watch which was carried around by many people. The size of these watches were roughly around the size of an egg when first built. When the early 20th century came around revolutionary technology allowed clock makers to easily make a clock face that was able to be used with a wrist band. These bands were first made to be worn by women as in those days it was not right for the men to wear them. Although as time moved on with men moving off and fighting in wars, it was then realised that the wrist watch was a lot easier to use for men during these struggling times without having to pull the watch out of their pocket in a battle.

As more time moved on the advancements in watch making also quickly took off. Later in the years the revolutionary technology then saw the invention of a wrist watch that did not have to be wound by hand. Earlier models of these were made to be wound by hand, although as the technology advanced so did these items. Early in the 1970's it was then when a new breed of time making evolved from Japan that was all based on electronics. These were developed from a Japan watch making company which allowed the watch to be used with a computerized control rather than a mechanical basis. This new turn allowed the watch to not only read the time but tell the date, the certain day of the week, as well as a leap year. Nowadays the wrist watch is used widely by many different people and cultures. These items come in many different colors and styles that can be chosen for any individual. These have also became a fashion accessory for many people and are very beneficial for those who always seem to be late all the time. As the years go on, there will probably be more advancements in technology that will allow for new ideas and revolutionary breakthroughs in how the watch will work and look in the future to come.
